December 27, 2014 -- Canby Oregon.
So it begins.

What a year that is drawing to a close.
I began the year married and living in the same home I raised my kids.
The year concludes as a single guy living in a two bedroom townhouse.

A year ago I thought the biggest move might take me from Canby to Wilsonville -- some 15 miles away in order to downsize.
Now I am researching a trip to Ecuador this summer with the possibility of retiring there.

I am grateful for the custom of celebrating a new year. (In fact, this past week I participated in a Winter Solstice celebration at Yachats where I wrote my wishes on paper and submitted it to a bonfire.)

The custom of a new year can help with the emotional transition of change. From one thing to another.

So it is within that custom that I look forward to new adventures. Traveling alone to someplace I've never been. Perhaps not to find something but merely to seek a newer world.
